Each year in the
United States there are more students killed in the loading and
unloading areas around the school bus than any other area of the
bus. We can save lives if we work together. You can help us
by reviewing these rules with your child and making sure that they
follow them. Your child's safety is our most important concern.
Always obey the bus
driver.
- Arrive at the bust stop no
more than five (5) minutes before scheduled departure.
- Behavior at the bust stop
must be orderly.
- Never run to or from the
bus.
- Stand back from the curb.
- Don't push or shove.
- Remain seated at all
times in your assigned seat only.
- Refrain from yelling or
using foul language on the bus.
- Refrain from eating and
drinking on the bus.
- Keep your hands and feet
out of the aisle and to yourself.
- Do not extend any part of
your body out of the windows.
- Remain in your seat until
the bus door is completely open.
- Students must get off at
their assigned stop unless prior permission is granted by a school
official. Transportation is provided between a student's home
and school only. Parents must provide transportation for students to
visit one another.
- Students must not cross
the street until the driver motions them across.
- Always cross at least ten
(10) giant steps in front of the bus.
- Never crawl under or pick
up anything around the bus.
- All of your property must
stay out of the aisle at all times.
- Students must not damage
any part of the bus or other students' property.
- There will no large
objects, weapons, or animals allowed on the bus.
- There will be absolute
quiet at all railroad crossings.
Consequences
- First Incident:
Driver verbally warns student and writes down name.
- First
Citation: Driver issues citation which will be given to
the school. Parent will be contacted.
- Second Citation:
Driver issues citation which will be given to the school.
Conference with parent, driver, school, and transportation official
will be required and may result in suspension for up to five (5)
days.
- Third Citation:
Same as above only with the possibility of permanent suspension from
transportation.
Severe Disruption
The following inappropriate
behavior will result in immediate suspension of transportation
privileges:
- Physical harm or threat
of harm to another student.
- Physical harm of threat
of harm to the bus driver.
- Fighting, carrying
weapons, smoking, use of drugs, etc.
- Property damage (which
will be paid for by the offender).
- Constant refusal to obey
the bus driver.
- Total disruption of the
bus.
Rewards
- Seat assignment waived.
- Radio on.
- Community passes or
treats.
- Special rewards and
recognition.
