The law charges every teacher and principal (Nevada Revised Statutes 391.270) with maintaining order and discipline among students while on or near school grounds. Rules and procedures are established to maintain an orderly learning environment in school. Students that fail to comply with reasonable rules and requests may be subject to suspension or expulsion. There are consequences for students that do not follow school rules or who repeatedly fail to meet behavioral expectations. There are also consequences for serious or dangerous behavior. Each classroom will have consequences posted, along with rules and rewards that students and teachers will follow. In some instances, student misbehavior requires administrative intervention. Any situation involving violence, controlled substances, or weapons, must be immediately referred to the principal. In other situations, it is expected that the teacher will have progressed through the classroom consequences before referring a student to the office. Possible Interventions
Students that exhibit continual disregard for school rules shall meet with the Behavioral Committee. This committee is comprised of 3 to 5 teachers , and will make recommendations to the principal for further disciplinary action. Parents will be notified and encouraged to attend this meeting with their child. |
